Good evening!
This morning, we did two dives over the sandy bottom, followed by a dive at Tongo.
What really surprised me at Tongo was finding the scattered bones of a green sea turtle deep inside a hole. There were even pieces of the turtle’s shell scattered around.
I’m not sure, but perhaps it was a green sea turtle that died naturally after reaching the end of its life. There were so many bones that if we had collected them all, there would have been almost enough to make a complete skeleton specimen.
Something I learned for the first time was that the colored part of the turtle’s shell seems to be like a thin layer attached over the bones, rather than the color being part of the bone itself.
It was really interesting and I learned something new today.
We also found a pair of Diana nudibranchs, one only about 5mm and the other around 3cm. Seeing the two different sizes together was so cute.
